The Role:
To assist the Certification department with documenting, testing and approving vehicles and parts for global markets.

Work with department managers to collate and check relevant documentation, enabling certification of products in the major market regions like Europe, USA and China.

Scope of the Role:
1. Support and Lead Certification Approval of Assigned Subjects
To work proactively with the functional feature and system owners to ensure that legislative and certification requirements are "designed-in" at the earliest appropriate stage.

2. Delivery of Projects
Assist in the Type Approval/Certification documentation and market specific data which, when introduced in to production, are safe, compliant with regulations and otherwise fit for purpose.

Responsible for planning, monitoring and expediting documentation leading to the Type Approval/Certification of vehicles.

3. Problem Solving
Ability to solve complex Engineering related problems. Analysis and management of several design related issues to identify the root cause.

4. Developing and Maintaining Specialist Knowledge
Responsible for keeping the team up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility. Capture learning from previous experience. Understand and maintain liaison with group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments.

Additional Info:
* Responsible for delivery of specified Type Approval/Certification activities required to support projects or new specification introduction, in fulfilment of quality, cost and time requirements.
* Responsible for delivery of system approval and/or market specific information to the appropriate market engineer.
* Responsible for securing evidence of component approval from responsible functions

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Engineering Degree or equivalent experience

Skills and Experience:
* Strong automotive or aerospace certification experience.
* A background in emissions testing and powertrain engineering desirable.
* Design and development skills.
* Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility.
* German language preferable, however not essential.
* Ability to solve problems.

Practical & Technical Knowledge:
* Knowledge of Legislation, Certification and Testing of powertrain, safety or complete vehicle desirable
* Experience of dealing with AES/BES in Europe or AECDs in USA is preferred, however not essential.
* Experience of Chinese markets desirable but not essential.
* Alternative experience as a powertrain calibrator / software engineer or similar skill would be suitable.
