The Role:
Draft our templates for investment and commercial contracts
Draft our standard clauses and set our policy within the legal department
Monitor the corporate aspects of COMPANY and its affiliates
Monitor and oversee all related transactions to ensure that COMPANY processes, policies, procedures and standards are in compliance with the applicable legal framework
*Collaborate with Chief Legal Officer for the formulation of organization vision, mission and strategic objectives as per the directives of the Board.
*Collaborate to the formulation of the legal department's strategy and strategic objectives ensuring alignment to the corporate strategy; monitor the implementation of the strategy.
*Collaborate in the development of the department's strategic and operational budgets; monitor expenditures against the budget(s) to ensure minimum variances.
*Collaborate in the development of the department's policies and procedures, ensuring that they promote leading practices and comply with laws and regulations.
*Develop reusable and effective terms and conditions for drafting commercial and investment contracts, while integrating legal laws.
*Identify and establish relationships with strategic stakeholders, internal and external, to facilitate the achievement of the department's strategy as well as the corporate strategy.
*Develop organization's standard commercial and investment contract templates from a legal perspective to ensure that COMPANY interests are well protected.
*Provide legal advice and assistance to the Chief Legal Officer, Management & Executive Committees and the Chief Officers/ Directors with respect to legal issues on concerned business matters and any other legal assistance required.
*Assist in overseeing the legal affairs of COMPANY to ensure that the company is protected from a wide variety of legal risks (contractual risks, litigation risks, etc.), from COMPANY's business venture.
*Assess and approve affiliation of external lawyers with the entity.
*Review written correspondence and contracts between COMPANY and relevant parties with a view to avoid potential legal implications and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
*Review all legal documentation pertaining to formal agreements, legal instruments, licenses etc. to ensure that all legal documentation is accurate and valid.
*Investigate legal claims and complaints by or against COMPANY together with external lawyer.
*Ensure required information/ documents are provided to the external lawyers to defend the court case.
*Oversee the maintenance of legal database which captures legal references, areas of law of special interest to the company such as company and labor law, legal journals etc. to ensure that adequate legal information is available for reference.
*Follow-up on cases and legal proceedings concerning COMPANY, and any other legal assistance required such as the review of external communication protocols and publications.
*Keep CLO updated on all legal matters (as and when required).
*Advise department when changes to laws and regulations may require changes in standard form documentation that may affect the products and servicing offered by COMPANY.
*Safeguard the assets, reputation and operations of COMPANY against legal risks arising in relation to its business relationships, contracts and agreements, compliance with laws and litigation.
*Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information.
*Allocate work to subordinates, nominate for training as per COMPANY guidelines, conduct performance reviews and manage leave and overtime to ensure efficiency.
*Participate in the identification of training and development initiatives for all subordinates
*Supervise direct reporters in their day-to-day tasks and guide them in managing their performance by providing appropriate feedback and counselling. Provide recommendations to HR & Admin on hiring and promotions.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Law
Master's degree in law or in Business Administration with a thesis emphasis in law
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a legal function or law firm in a similar role
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
*Knowledge of statutory and legal compliance requirements
*Knowledge of corporate matters work

*Company, Labor, Contracts and IP Law
*Litigation experience in Qatar
*Good negotiation skills
*Transactional expertise
