The Role:
To provide HV/MV electrical engineering maintenance services/support in house and managing specialist system engineers/contractors across all the site facilities to ensure all test facilities and HV/MV assets are reliable/available.
As an integral member of the Operations team, ensure troubleshooting, test rig operation, defect rectification and HV/MV electrical maintenance work orders are carried out and recorded on the Asset Management System and the required standards and procedures are followed.
Accountable to the Asset Maintenance and Facilities Manager and leading the electrical technician maintenance team by delivering a high standard of electrical support to the facilities.
Ensure compliance with QHSE within all areas of the role and its responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible to ensure that site HV/MV equipment and facilities are maintained to an impeccable standard.
* To work with the existing Control Person as detailed in BP2175. HV Intervention System and become a fully qualified Authorised Person following training from our Senior Authorised Person. (SAP)
* Responsible for line managing, overseeing and leading the electrical maintenance technicians in conducting routine maintenance/fault-finding and associated record keeping of site facilities and HV/MV plant as necessary.
* Support and promote Health & Safety, Environment & Quality as core business principles within an OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO17025 environment.
* To assist in the development and operate a formal maintenance regime for HV/MV electrical plant/equipment and tools.
* Operate all equipment and machinery within guidelines and procedures to meet required outputs and/or deliverables
* Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Work Authorisation System and all operational risks are minimised.
* Ensure visitors and contractors are fully briefed in all areas of operational requirements
* Provide competent site cover for other members of staff as directed.
* Propose and support improvements, future developments and efficiencies within the test facilities.
* Support the development and implement of in-house procedures and documentation as necessary;
Skills & Knowledge
* To have and demonstrate a good strong knowledge / experience of maintaining electrical HV, MV and LV and control system supplies and have the competence to diagnose/recommend, discuss and implement repair/renewal options with the Asset Maintenance and Facilities Manager, electrical design engineers and the electrical maintenance technicians;
* To have and demonstrate a good strong knowledge / experience of commissioning electrical HV systems would be beneficial;
* To have and demonstrate a good strong knowledge / experience of MV/LV variable frequency drives (VFD's);
* Understanding of Permanent magnetic drives would be beneficial but not essential;
* Fully conversant with the current wiring regulations 17th Edition Qualification is desirable;
* To have the relevant competence to create and review risk assessments and method statements;
* To have a good understanding of Health and safety practices and requirements including producing detailed risk assessments and method statements;
* Strong mind-set for continuous improvement;
* Analytical skills with ability to use own initiative to solve problems, offering a range of solutions for project/test completion;
* Assist the QA manager in obtaining and retaining quality standards as applicable;

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Educated to at least degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
* Relevant training in lifting/slinging including PUWER/LOLER regulations (desirable)
* Installation fault-finding/rectification and maintenance of HV,MV & LV plant and machinery
* Running equipment within set guidelines to meet clearly defined criteria.
* Sound knowledge of electrical/mechanical generating plant and apparatus.
* Motivated and strong team player - working individually and leading the electrical maintenance technicians.
* Good understanding of H&S legislation applicable to plant operations.
* Experience of working in OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 environments. (desirable)
* Electrical Inspection and Testing Qualification (desirable).
