The Position & Accountabilities

Through project expansion and company growth, the position of Principal Civil/Structural Engineer has become available.

The general outline of the role is as follows:

  • Work safely within the companies Care Strategy including establishing and maintaining an interdependent safety culture within the team including the delivery of improvements in safety performance
  • Provide core structural design expertise for steelwork, concrete, mechanical support structures and infrastructure - existing plant and infrastructure and new projects. Provides leadership for developing and maintaining the governance systems and processes to control structural and civil engineering standards across the operation and can provide governance sign off on structural engineering sign off on capital project works.
  • Provide expert working knowledge of structural calculation and design packages including SpaceGass and Strand7 or an equivalent finite element analysis software and can undertake and check calculation work from first principals.
  • Lead the structural integrity program for the plant, equipment and infrastructure across all company site operations
  • Provide best practice expertise with respect to structural integrity of existing asserts including processing plant and infrastructure and leads the structural integrity audits across the company site in accordance with the structural integrity management standard.
  • Provides expert understanding and working knowledge of Australian Standards that may impact or govern the companies operation.
  • Assisting the Superintendent Engineering and Capital Works as required to meet regulatory and legislative requirements for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with operational budgetary targets.
  • Complying to statutory obligations to ensure the company is in adherence to all policies relating to Engineering and Capital Works

About You

  • Structural / Civil Engineering Degree and/or Project Management qualification is essential for this role.
  • A strong background at Principal level in an operating asset within a similar industry / organisation.
  • Eligible for RPEQ or CPEng qualification
  • Expert knowledge of AS/NZS Standards, whilst responsible for the production of complex and detailed engineering design and drawings.
  • A sound understanding of Quality Systems (ISO 9001:2000), the fundamentals of project management and strong SAP / MS project knowledge.
  • Can demonstrate strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
