The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Laboratory Superintendent to assist in the continuous monitoring and control requirements of the operating alumina refinery by managing the Laboratory. Their expertise will be used in the resolution of quality and process issues in the laboratory and refinery. Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Lead the Laboratory and champion the company Values, Code of Conduct and Care Strategy
- Ensure laboratory personnel are fully competent to work effectively and safely
- Identify and demonstrate awareness of material safety risks relevant to your area
- Provide a laboratory analytical service that meets refinery and customer needs
- Provide technical direction, participate in and support projects to make improvements
- Supervise the execution of the schedule to achieve targets on HSEC, cost and volume
- Manage laboratory budget and contracts
- Ensure Laboratory is suitably equipped and supplied
- Participate in the weekly planning and scheduling process meetings to ensure alignment
- Develop and mentor individual team members and promote a culture of continuous improvement

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Science (preferably Chemistry or Chemical Engineering)
- Exceptional safety leadership
- Demonstrated capability to successfully lead a team and influence others
- Ability to develop, coach and mentor employees
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Analytical, problem solving & decision-making skills
- Analytical, instrumental and supervisory laboratory experience is required
- Strong knowledge of Alumina refining analytical methods as well as refinery processing systems
