The Role:
Located in Oxford you will provide frontline safety management of site, ensuring the safe work practices of site are adhered to consistently in accordance with safety regulations and internal work practices.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for:
* Ensuring company EHS standards are introduced, communicated and maintained on the project.
* Assisting and where necessary leading the investigation into incidents, root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
* Assist in the preparation and / or review of risk assessments and method statements with consideration of how risks could be reduced;
* Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards;
* Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
* Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation;
* Prepare and submit health and safety reports;
* Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements;
* Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers;
* Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry;
* Attend regular steering committee meeting;
* Ensure equipment is installed safely;
* Monitor and advise Site Management on best practices with regard to safety, occupational health and environmental matters.
* Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
* Monitor behavioural safety of all personnel on site.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
You shall have the minimum of NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent, and have a good understanding of a broad range of health and safety issues.

As a Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) you shall have relevant experience in in similar fields:
* Construction;
* Engineering;
* Manufacturing;

A good understanding of the risk assessment process is essential and a background of working in mainland Europe will be advantageous.
A current CSCS / CCNSG card is essential as the role is site based.

Additional Skills
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain health and safety processes to a range of people and to give presentations to groups;
* Negotiating skills to convince managers of the need to implement and maintain safety standards that may compromise the safety of personnel.
* Patience and diplomacy because the profession requires a collaborative approach;
