Job Purpose
* A key member of the project's leadership team, reporting directly to the Business Manager. The role is to ensure that the project obtains the services needed at the Fabrication Yard to achieve project goals related to cost, schedule, document control and project management controls, as well as ensure that all activities comply with standardized processes and are delivered to the highest possible standards.. Leads efforts to ensure the project is executed in accordance with QGPMS expectations.
Reporting and Relationships * Reports to the Business Manager
* Interfaces with various project teams and departments on resolving related issues that requires effective communication, initiative, flexibility and an ability to induce collaboration.
* Interacts effectively with Project Management Team to discuss project practices and issues encountered at the Fabrication Yard.
* Exhibits team leadership skills, integrity, self-confidence, and fairness.
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
* Leads and directs the work of the PMT's Business Group.
* Understanding the key project drivers to ensure delivery of project within the agreed time frame.
* Monitors Contractor's performance in areas of cost, schedule control and procurement and provide advice as necessary to make certain Company's and the Project's objectives are achieved.
* Acts for the Business Manager when required during absence(s).
* Provide direction and work effectively in a complex multinational and multi-cultural environment
* Develop effective working relationships with the Contractor, PMT and operating companies.
* Major challenges are time management to carry out various activities, as well as ensure that the project (at fabrication/construction site) obtains the services needed to achieve project goals and activities related to cost, schedule, procurement, reporting and project management controls.
Key Job Accountabilities
1. Responsible for stewarding the implementation of QGPMS and the objectives within his Functional Group and the corresponding EPC Contractor's Team.
2. Leads and directs the work of the PMT's Business Group at the Fabrication Yard.
3. Monitor Contractor performance and ensure that the project (at fabrication/construction site) obtains the services needed to achieve project goals and activities related to cost, schedule, procurement, reporting and project management controls.
4. Provides advice on cost and schedule impact of changes, modifications or alternates by keeping abreast of engineering, procurement and construction activities.
5. Prepares all required data for management reports.
6. Performs PMT office administration duties at the Fabrication Yard and coordinates PMT matters with Qatargas and Shareholders Organizations.
7. Reviews and endorses EPC Contractor's invoices and change orders submitted for approval.
8. Provides training to PMT staff on business related functions.
9. Provides support to the Business Manager/Project Manager on Contract Administration issues/matters.
10. Acts for the Business Manager when required during absence(s).
11. Conducts periodic meetings with the Contractor to review progress/activities at the Fabrication Yard and report on the status of the project to management.
12. Authorize and audit all EPC contract performance reports.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications and/or professional registration in a relevant business, science or engineering discipline.
Knowledge and/or Experience
* Preferred Bachelor of Business Management degree or equivalent experience.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good supervisory skills
* Minimum of ten (10) years broad experience in all project phases i.e. engineering, procurement and construction.
* Worldwide experience with Contractors and Vendors, in particular those involved in the construction of offshore facilities.
* Managed multi discipline and multi cultural teams.
* Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
* Make decisions in the general interest while pursuing business results.
* Prepare contingency plans for the unexpected (pro-active, forward-looking).
* Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
* Willing and able to travel as required.
Technical and Business Skills * A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
* Computer literacy involving the regular use of professional office applications and some technical applications.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with several organisational levels.
* Deliver in a schedule driven project.
